INHIBITOR-B
- BroadBand ECM Equipment
|
The Threat/Need
Terrorist organizations make wide use of various
radio devices in order to detonate radio controlled
Improvised Explosives Devices (IED),while targeting
mainly military convoys or VIP motorcades.
Since portable radio devices operate on a wide
range of frequencies & communications protocols,
from simple short wave wireless remote controls
to mobile/satellite phones & wireless LAN,Guartel
has developed means of Electronic Counter-Measures
(ECM) to deal with the challenges of this increasingly
dangerous threat.
Jamming Architecture
The BroadBand ECM-Guard solution is based on a
multi-channel jamming transmitter chassis,delivering
very high power jamming signals through a matching
array of broadband antennas radiating effectively
towards the front and road sides, thereby creating
a "secure shield"area around the jamming
carrier vehicle.
The total transmission power across tthe wide
range of frequencies is usually between 500W to
over 1 KW in order to maintain reasonable jamming
range.
Modular
Configuration
The system is comprised of various modules, each
configured to cover a specific sub- band of frequencies, corresponding
to a given threat.Additional modules may be incorporated
in the system after field deployment.
User
Interface &Control
The Inhibitor-B ECM equipment enables systhesized
swept noise and programmable digital waveforming
via laptop interface.Communications notches windows)may
be programmed by the user as per mission requirements. This
enables the end user to
program the system to cover specific threat frequencies
as per intelligence available and thereby use
the transmitted power effectively.

Vehicle
Installation
Installation into military vehicles offers challenges
derived from the tough environmental conditions such
equipment must undergo. When installing the Inhibitor-B
ECM equipment onboard military vehicles,MIL-STD antennas
must be used and the equipment should be mounted by
using a MIL-STD-810E compliant shock-absorbing rack.
Configuration
Guidelines
To obtain the most effective protection, the
proper trade-off between transmission power, number of
bands, number of visible antennas and vehicle voltage/current
supply must be carefully calculated.
Each additional sub-band,increases the ECM system's
power consumption. Therefore, careful assessment of possible
threats must be made in order to concentrate the available
energy on the specific frequencies where potencial threats
operate.
Antenna Selection Guidelines
To obtain the most effective protection, while minimizing
unwanted exposure of the ECM equipment, any sub-band
jamming transmitter should be connected to an effective
antenna,providing the omni/directional coverage.
All antennas must be suitable for the type of vehicle
and usage pattern thereof.Military antennas must operate
under harsh environmental conditions as per MIL-STD-810C
for vibration &shock.
BroadBand antennas for civil vehicles must be concealed
while maintaining proper gain, polarity and dirctional
radiation pattern.
Following are military ECM antennas we are offering.Other
antennas are available depending upon customer specific
requirements and vehicle type.
