Metal
Detectors - MD4
The MD4 is the current Handheld Metal
Detector used by the British Army and is specifically
designed for IED and EOD operations although it may
be used effectively in mine clearance.
The MD4 is unique in it's construction. All electronics,
controls, detection head and batteries are contained
within a hand held probe. The unit is extremely sensitive
and easy to use. It has only two operating buttons,
ON/ZERO and OFF. The operating principle is multi-sampling,
pulse induction and detection indication is by built
in speaker or earphone. The equipment is fully ruggedised,
waterproof and ECM compatible.
The equipment is fully NATO codified and now in use
in many countries. It is supplied packed into a shockproof
aluminium transit case with soft carry case, earpiece
attachment and spare battery cassette.
Target location is by audio signal which varies in pitch
and volume according to the proximity of the target.
The equipment uses 4 off 1.5V 'C' cells which last approx.
18 hours in continuous use.
In production and in service with the British Army and
Police Forces and similar authorities world-wide.
